Recently, Norwegians have become familiar with per-minute pricing on various services, such as electric scooters or charging electric vehicles at charging stations. Now, this pricing model is also being introduced to parking.
ONEPARK will be testing per-minute pricing to see if this offers customers a more predictable experience than the current model, which often charges by the started hour or half-hour. The main advantage of per-minute pricing is that you pay only for the exact time you are parked.
The dynamic element means that prices may fluctuate slightly. Typically, customers will not only be parked during the hours when per-minute prices are highest, and the average user will not experience a higher hourly rate. Quite the opposite, in fact—the average hourly rate will generally be lower than current rates, as multiple different per-minute prices may apply during a single parking session.
